Marquis de Montesquiou

The Montesquiou family has been making Armagnac since 1431 and is one of France's most prestigious Armagnac Houses. Armagnac is a very distinctive and seductive brandy that can express the rich history and originality of Gascony in a single sip. It’s distilled from wine usually made from a blend of grapes and aged in French oak barrels for many years. The Société des Produits d’Armagnac, home of the Marquis de Montesquiou and Comte de Lauvia, was founded in 1936 by Pierre de Montesquiou, a politically ambitious Armagnac merchant. The family has been firmly rooted in the soil of Gascony since 1040. Its most famous descendant is Pierre de Montesquiou d’Artagnan, the musketeer whose name was immortalised by Alexandre Dumas in The Three Musketeers. In 2021, renowned distiller Alexander Stein bought a majority stake in Société des Produits d’Armagnac with the aim of restoring the brand to its former glory.
