J. Bally is one of the oldest distilleries on the Caribbean island of Martinique. Since 1924 Bally has produced its famous vintage rum in Carbet, a particularly suitable zone of the island for the cultivation of sugar cane. Its products are French-style rhums agricoles, distilled not from molasses, as with many other rums, but from the juice of sugar cane harvested in the limited period between January and February. These rums are characterised by their delicate flavours, roundness on the palate and great fruit aromas.
Tasting Notes:
The nose is fresh and clean with notes of fresh sugar, winter spice, berries and a floral note. The palate is delicate and crisp with notes of dry spice and ginger. Typical Agricole style; pungent, oily, rich sugar cane juice character which has been mellowed by oak ageing and picked up strong hints of bourbon. The finish is spiced and warming.
